Seiberling - process engineering - control system integration

process engineering

To ensure the client’s competitive position in the marketplace, an improvement in product quality was necessary, with a resultant increase in typical shelf-life, while reducing product losses.

The existing process and CIP pasteurized piping configuration required multiple manual connections be made and broken throughout the processing day. The results were compromised product quality due to having the operator’s hands in the process and opening up the piping system to the environment, and unacceptable product losses resulting from continually disconnecting product lines.

All manual swing connections on the pasteurized side were replaced with properly engineered mix-proof valve groups resulting in a truly closed piping system. This eliminated the need to open-up the product lines to human hands and the atmosphere, leading to the resultant product loss. As an added bonus, the new configuration provides improved processing and CIP flexibility, boosting plant efficiency.
